A Museum with a world-renowned art collection in the heart of Athens
Situated in the lively neighborhood of Pangrati, in central Athens, the Museum of the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation showcases a wide range of modern and contemporary artworks, including rare masterpieces by European avant-garde artists.
The Museum houses the Collection of its founders, Basil and Elise Goulandris, who were passionate about art and firmly believed that modern and contemporary art should be accessible to everyone. The Collection features works by Cézanne, van Gogh, Gauguin, Monet, Degas, Rodin, Toulouse-Lautrec, Bonnard, Picasso, Braque, Léger, Kandinsky, Miró, Giacometti, Balthus, Pollock, Bacon, Lichtenstein and Botero as well as acclaimed modern and contemporary Greek artists including Parthenis, Bouzianis, Vassiliou, Hadjikyriakos-Ghika, Tsarouchis, Moralis, Tetsis, Takis, Chryssa, Stamos and others.
The B&E Goulandris Shop offers a broad range of exclusive, custom made products including utility objects and objects of art, from limited edition artworks and prints to books and exhibition catalogues, home accessories, jewelry, office equipment and corporate gifts. All products have been designed by Greek artists and are inspired by the Foundation’s Collection.
At the B&E Goulandris Café-Restaurant, an urban garden hidden in the Foundation’s mezzanine floor, art meets creative culinary delights. Cozy and discreet, the Café-Restaurant is an oasis of greenery in the heart of the city. It is run by the experienced team of Dipnosofistirion which offers breakfast, brunch and lunch as well as a variety of snacks and desserts, coffee and drinks.
ADMISSION TO THE PERMANENT COLLECTION: 12€
CONCESSION TICKETS: 9€ (For 65+, children and young persons aged 13-26, students, European Youth Card cardholders, registered unemployed and enlisted citizens).
FREE ADMISSION: Children up to 12 years old, people with disabilities and their accompanying person, teachers accompanying school visits, AICA – ICOM – ICOMOS cardholders, members of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece, qualified tour guides, journalists.
