The port of Volos, as a port of Central Greece, is becoming attractive to tourists. It has comparative advantages such as easy access from the PATHE motorway, close proximity to the railway network, and the Nea Anchialos airport.

In the port of Volos, there is a permanent mooring area for pleasure boats, which can accommodate up to 300 boats, providing docking services (electricity – water supply) – Pillars, while professional – tourist boats and modern passenger – ferry ships are at the disposal of visitors who want to enjoy the beaches of Magnesia and the beaches of the Sporades islands.

The area is endowed with many interesting tourist sites. There are five particularly important museums, with exhibits from the prehistoric, classical, Byzantine, and modern times, and at the same time there are findings from ancient Iolkos, from where the mythical Jason began the Argonaut expedition to Colchis with the mythical ship Argo.

At the same time, visitors have the opportunity to visit Meteora and take a ride on the Pelion train, learning about the history of the mountain of the Centaurs, Pelion.

Aiming at the overall energy upgrade of the port infrastructure and the reduction of the environmental footprint of the Port of Volos, Port of Volos, among other things, has completed the studies for the installation of a shore-based ship power supply system and with the installation of photovoltaics within the year, it will be energy autonomous.
