Alpha Bank Cultural Centre – Nafplio
The Alpha Bank Cultural Centre – Nafplio is located in the neoclassical building which belongs to the Bank in the Old City of Nafplio and in which the Bank’s Koletti Branch also operates.
Inaugurated in 2006, the Cultural Centre has since then hosted on its two floors many parallel exhibitions, organised by the Art Collection and the Numismatic Collection of Alpha Bank, on themes drawn from the Bank’s collections of contemporary Greek art and ancient Greek coins, respectively.
The following are some of the most important exhibitions presented in the Alpha Bank Cultural Centre – Nafplio since its opening: “Works by Peloponnesian Artists” and “Ancient Coins of the Peloponnese”, in 2006; “Affinities: Flowers in Greek Art” and “Plants on Ancient Coins”, in 2007; “Yannis Moralis: Theatre-Music-Poetry” and “Journey to the Islands: The Numismatic Evidence”, in 2009, Fred Boissonas, 2010, Greek posters, 2011, Myths, 2013, Theofilos, 2017 until today.
Since 2008, the Alpha Bank Cultural Centre – Nafplio is also organising the educational exhibitions “Printmaking and its Techniques”, “Learning about Coins”, “Myth: Ancient and contemporary Greek art from the Alpha Bank Collections” and “The painter Theophilos” intended for primary and secondary schools. In addition to obtaining relevant information material, schoolchildren visiting these exhibitions also have the opportunity to participate in educational programmes that have been custom-designed by museum education specialists to accompany the exhibitions. Group visits by schools are welcome after prior arrangement.
